Some of the metro stations of the Mexico City Metro Network are huge and ‘La Raza’ is on the upper end of the scale. In fact, within the station itself there is the ‘Tunel de la Ciencia‘ (Tunnel of Science) which is basically a science museum within the metro station.
Here’s a little tour of the tunnel made by some university students (in Spanish).
Once you get outside and look around it is likely that the first thing that you will notice is the towering church ‘La Luz del Mundo‘ (Light of the World).
I wandered over and was welcomed with open arms into the church and assigned a guide for my very own personal tour of the church.
I learnt all about desert pilgrimages with guardian clouds to protect, miraculously appearing spirals of fire to warm at night and divinely sent flocks of pigeons to fill empty stomachs with their meat. All provided by the great and almighty God, of course.
And like any evangelical and missionary church worth its salt I was subjected to the great proselytizing spiel and ensured that I was welcome back to the church at any time.
So, will I return?
I doubt it.
Algunas de las estaciones del metro de la Ciudad de México son enormes y La Raza es una de esas. De hecho, dentro de la estación hay el ‘Túnel de la Ciencia’ que es basicamente un museo de ciencia dentro de la estación del metro.

Una vez que salgas de la estación y miras por alrededor es probable que la primera cosa de que te vas a dar cuenta será la altisima iglesia ‘ La Luz del Mundo‘
Fui ahi para recibir un bienvenidos con los brazos abiertos. Me asignó un guia por mi propio tur personal de la iglesia.
Aprendí mucho sobre peregrinaciones del desierto con nubes de guardia para proteger, espirales de fuego que aparecieron milagrosamente en la noche para calentar y bandadas de palomas divinamente enviadas para llenar estómagos vacios con su carne. Todo, por supuesto, gracias al grande y todopoderoso Dios.
Y como cualquiera iglesia evangelica y misionera fui sometido a todo el rollo para intentar convertirme. También me aseguraron que cualquier tiempo que quiero volver a la iglesia seré muy bienvenido.
Asi que, volveré?
Lo dudo.
