Station / Estación # 26: Lazaro Cardenas

Esta estación lleva el nombre del presidente de México de 1934-40.

Caminé a una colonia al lado de la estación y encontré un enclave de raustaurantes de comida del estado de Guererro.

El área tiene varios juegos de video así que saqué unas fotos de esos también.

La ‘Colonia Buenos Aires’ por el otro lado de la estación es el lugar para ir si buscas algún accesorio o repuesto de carro.  Decliné las varias ofertas de asistencia.

Por las orillas del distrito encontré una esculturas interesantes de metal, por si acaso quieres saber el precio de pechuga, piernas, muslos y retazo de pollo saqué una foto de eso también y para terminar una foto del dueño de una tienda de guitarras durmiendo una buena siesta.

This station is the namesake of Mexico’s president from 1934-40.

I drifted off into the surrounding neighbourhood and came across a little enclave of resturants serving cuisine from the Mexican state of Guererro.

The area was punctuated by quite a few video and pinball games so I snapped a few of those as well.

‘Colonia Buenos Aires‘ which is on the other side of the station is Mexico City’s mecca for used auto parts and accesories.  I turned down the numerous offers for assistance.

On the fringe of the district I encountered some interesting metallic sculptures, just in case you wanted to know the latest prices in the area for chicken breasts, legs, thighs and offal I got a photo of that too and one of a sleeping luthier to boot.

Station / Estación # 25: Iztacalco

Iztacalco is designated one of Mexico City’s 21 ‘Barrios Mágicos’ (Magical Neighbourhoods) for its well preserved narrow cobbled streets, antique churches, quaint chapels and general vibe of yesteryear.

I was lucky to have a new friend Ricardo, who lives in the area, guide me in and around the ‘7 barrios’ (7 neighbourhoods) area.

Ricardo told me that the Latin American legend of ‘La Llorona‘ (The Weeping Woman) is especially poignant in the area.

A few of the other things that caught my attention were a VW taxi, an ice cream bike, some giant bags of chips and some nice street art.

Iztacalco está designado como uno de los 21 ‘Barrios Magicos’ del DF pr sus calles de piedra bien preservadas, iglesias antiguas, capillas pintorescas y ambiente del pasado.

Tuve la suerte de estar acompañado y guiado por la zona de los ‘7 barrios’ por un amigo nuevo, Ricardo, que vive en el área.

Me dijo que la leyenda de ‘La Llorana‘ se siente especialmente conmovedora ahi.

Alguans cosas más que me atrajeron la atención fueron un taxi VW, una bici de helados, unas bolsa gigantes de botanas y un poco más de arte callejero lindo.
