Station / Estación # 35: Valle Gomez

Valle Gomez is one of the stations (many) that I doubt that I would ever visit if it were not for the MCM Project.

There is a quiet neighbourhood behind a busy road.

An abandoned and hollowed out car is left to rust away its days.

A swans and angels shrine inhabits a quiet corner.

An old superman machine lonesomely waits to slurp up another coin.

You probably haven’t been there.  You’ll probably never go there.

The MCM project does not discriminate.

Valle Gomez es una de las estaciones (muchas) que dudo que visitaría si no existiera el MCM Project.

Hay una colonia tranquila detrás de un camino muy transitado.

Un coche abandonado y hueco espera el fin de sus dias oxidandose.

Un santuario de cisnes y angeles ocupa una esquina tranquila.

Una vieja maquina de Superman espera tragar su proxima moneda.

Probablemente no has ido a Valle Gomez.  Probablemnte jamás irás.

El MCM Project no discrimina.

 

Station / Estación # 34: Pino Suarez

Esta es la primera vez que el MCM Project visita a una estación dentro del centro histórico de la Ciudad de México.

El corázon del DF provee una diversidad inmensa de estimulos de los sentidos.

Los alrededores de Pino Suarez, con multiples entradas y salidas, ofrece una plétora de vistas.

Me gustó en particular el cartel preguntando- Y tú?  Qué sueldo tienes?  (Ve foto)

Dejaré que las fotos cuentan la historia.

 

This is the first time that the MCM Project visits a station within the historic centre of Mexico City.

Mexic City’s heart provides a smorgasbord of sensorial stimuli.

The surrounds of Pino Suarez, with multiple entries and exits, offer a plethora of sights.

I particularly liked the little poster asking – What kind of salary do you have? – An Onion Salary- you see it, you take it and then you go off to cry.  A menstrual Salary- it comes once a month and lasts a few days.

I’ll let the photos paint the rest of the picture.

Station / Estación # 33: Portales

Start with a few old-school magazines, a tiled facade, one sacred cactus protected by barbed wire and a church for good measure.

Add a couple of public telephones, a dash of street art, a brightly coloured tortilla house and an abandoned doll.

Mix well, finish with a Jesus image and garnish with a see-saw.  Drink deep and enjoy your dose of Portales!

Empiece con unas revistas viejas, una fachada de azulejos, un cactus sagrado protegido por alambre de púas y una iglesia.

Añada un par de teléfonos públicos, un poquito de arte callejero, una tortillería brillante y una muñeca abandonada.

Mezcla bien, termine con una imágen de Jesús y guarnece con un balancín.  Bebe profundamente y disfrute tu dosis de Portales!
