Station / Estación # 15: Apatlaco

It was an interesting visit to Apatlaco.

The first photo I took was of a barking dog.

About 10 minutes later a lady called out to me and then asked me why I had taken a photo of her house.  I was initially confused as to what she was talking about because of the time that had elapsed.  I caught on and explained that I just photographed the dog, not her house and she was fine.

There is nice coffee art at the entrance to Alex’s Coffee shop.  It almost enticed me in.

Next up I had a chat to a nice guy carving an image of Jesus in a tree trunk.  Expected work time: a week and a half.

Just as I was leaving I was out-of-the-blue offered immigration and legal advice by a roving hombre and presented with a business card.  I took the card, he happily posed for a photo.

It’s a recurring theme, I know, but there really is a lot of great street art in Mexico City.  This lot, featuring Teotihuacan was on a wall right next to a quaint little stone church.

Finally I was left with the question, what is stnk.org?  Now I know and you can too!

Fue una visita interesante a Apatlaco.

La primera foto que tomé fue de un perro ladrando.

10 minutos después una señora me llamó para preguntarme por qué había sacado una foto de su casa.  Al principio estaba confundido ya que había pasado un buen rato de tiempo.  Cuando entendí le explicé que solo saqué una foto del perro y no de su casa y no pasó nada.

Hay arte bueno a la entrada a ‘Alex’s Coffee’.  Se ve un buen lugar para tomar un cafecito!

Después hablé un rato con un buen tipo que está tallando una imagén de Jesús en un tronco de árbol.  Duración del trabajo:  Una semana y media.

Cuando empezaba a seguir del camino, inesperadamente un hombre ambulante me ofreció consejo migratorio y legal y me dió su tarjeta.  Llevé su tarjeta y él felizmente posó para una foto.

Es un tema recurrente, lo sé, pero realmente hay mucho arte callejero bueno en la Ciudad de México.  Este arte, con la imagén de Teotihuacan, se encuentra en una pared justo al lado de una iglesia pequeña y pintoresca de piedra.

Finalmente me quedé con la pregunta, qué es stnk.org?  Ahora lo sé y tú también puedes!
