It is perhaps ironic that I didn’t find the area around a station named after a revolutionary terribly inspiring.
There is a vast conglomeration of shopping malls and chain stores hugging both sides of the main road outside the station.
However, my theory and indeed the rationale for the MCM Project is that I WILL find something or someone worth documenting at EVERY station. Sometimes, it slaps me in the face upon exiting the station. Other times it takes a bit more patience.
So, after wandering and wandering, widening my search, I finally came face to face with an über-friendly deaf-mute street-performer/flower-seller who was also a willing photo subject. Voilà! Protagonist of my visit found!
Along the way I did also get a distant shot of a stack of fairy floss towering above its vendor and saw an advertisment for stage show ‘Nadando con Tiburones‘ (Swimming with Sharks) which is about to open at Teatro de los Insurgentes.
I guess I could add something something more about Emiliano Zapata, the Mexican Revolution or even the Ejercito Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (Zapatista National Liberation Army) movement. Well, now I have, your appetite is whetted, the internet is a powerful tool!

Tal vez es irónico que los alrededores de una estación que lleva el nombre de un revolucionario no me inspiraron mucho.
Hay una imensa conglomeración de centros comerciales y tiendas de cadenas por los dos lados del camino principal afuera de la estación.
Sin embargo, mi teoría y mi propósito para hacer el MCM Project es que ENCONTRARÉ algo o alguién que vale la pena documentar en CADA estación. A veces me da una bofetada en la cara inmediatamente al salir de la estación. Otras veces hay que tener un poco más de paciencia.
Así, después de caminar y caminar, dando más amplitud a mi busqueda me enfrenté con un super-amigable, sordo-mudo, artista de la calle/vendedor de flores quien también era un particpante dispuesto a la fotografía. Voilà! Protagonista de mi visita ya encontrado!
En el camino también saqué una foto de lejos de una torre de algodón de azúcar y su vendedor y ví una propaganda por la obra de teatro ‘Nadando con Tiburones‘ que está por abrir en el Teatro de los Insurgentes.
Supongo que podria haber añadido algo más sobre Emiliano Zapata, la Revolución mexicana o hasta el Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional. Bueno, ya lo he hecho, te he dado el antojo, el internet es una herramienta poderosa!
